Imagine Players from Every Era Living Forever
In last week’s San Francisco Chronicle, I ran across this short
article by Kerwin Berk, "Sad Times When Stars
are Put
Out to Pasture." Berk laments about fantasy baseball stars who “just
inexplicably fall off the table” from one year’s performance to the next. One example he cites is Wade Boggs hitting
.332 one season and then just .259 the following year.
While “off” seasons can and do happen, with Diamond Mind Online, we like to invoke the No-Pasture Rule. Through our real-life career and sim stats, baseball players from every era can live and play forever. Kind of like Field of Dreams without the whole plow-your-corn-field thing.
That’s actually what makes DMO so much fun – drafting and signing players from the past, some you followed as a kid, others your grandpa saw play when he was a kid. But no matter their era, the cool part is that they all get to take the field again – and this time, you’re their manager.
