Cubs-Dodgers Game 1 a Virtual Tie

We just finished 1,000 runs of game 1 of the Cubs-Dodgers series on our Diamond Mind simulation.

The results?

It's close!  L.A. won 536 times to 464 for the Cubs, so this is almost a toss-up.  The Dodgers scored an average of 4.8 runs comlogo_la_79x76_79pared to 4.1 for the Cubbies.  According to our simulation runs, Ryan Dempster and Derek Lowe duel it up fairly even, but the Dodgers rough up the Chicago bullpen more than the other way around in alogo_chc_79x76_79 number of our sim runs.  And just as getting on base was the key for Philadelphia, the Dodgers take advantage of a number of walks, while the Cubs average practically none while striking out a lot - and they appear to pay the price for it... classic sabermetrics in game one!  But it looks very close - could go either way with one big hit.  And not only does this game look close, but we think the winner gets a huge leg up for winning the series, more so than the other 3 LDS.

Not convinced about sim accuracy?  See how we did in Game 1 of the Phillies-Brewers NLDS.
