Boston's Lester, Ortiz Key in Tight Red Sox-Angels ALDS

Toss a coin!  We ran the simulation for game 1 of the Angels-BoSox series

Out of 1,000 simulation runs, the Angels won 501 games to the Red Sox 499... but the Red Sox average 4.0 runs, compared to 3.8 for the Angels!  We have never had a simulation so close for anything.  Our overall sim runs favored the Angels, but game one is a toss-up.

On average, none of the Red Sox did much offensively, and David Ortiz (left, No. 34) was pretty much an ofortiz3_375fensive zero.  Our projections for the entire series showed that keeping Papi in check would key an Angels win.

But the difference appears to be Boston starter Jon Lester (right) - when he does well and goes deep into the game, the Red Sox have the edge.

So, our sim runs seem to say to watch Lester and Ortiz.
